The Ethnic Conflict of Eastern Congo

The Eastern part of DR Congo is unrest for decades. This part of the country, particularly, Eturi province is most vulnerable area in the whole Congo in terms of ethnic clash, several armed groups activities in mineral rich zones, looting conducted by various bandits groups who are taking chances of the absence of proper law and security order, raping, killing, abducting, hijacking and so on. Though the overall quantity of crimes has been decreased in the last few years, but still it is quite alarming. From the humanitarian ground, the region is considered full of dangers, civilian are insecure, women and children are passing the toughest time as usually as their unshakeable fates. The normal life of civilian is also being hampered  and  collapsed because of different sort of attacks, killing, looting etc. They are forced to pay them not only money, even they have to hand over their domestic animals e.g. cow, goat or hens whatever they belong to. Besides, being humiliated is a common occurrence for the innocent and helpless Congolese.
Women and children are the most endangered species; they can hardly save themselves from the paw of miscreants. It is quite normal to be assaulted by the rebels. They want to hide in jungle or bush in their surrounding but it does not work always. The conflict at present does not only play the role under the guise of ethnicity, moreover, it takes various types of dimensions which are not facile to explain. Sometimes the secessionists do not want to get back their normal life being offered the opportunity of the DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration) project as well. It seems that it has just become their profession to lead the life. Though initially all the groups had some particular mandates, and used to introduce themselves as the patriots who want to establish peace,  make the country developed, bring back the democracy and off course the justice. But presently it is not clear what motivation exactly they have and what is their demand. The groups are no longer enough large and strong, but still they are unbeatable. That's why the mass people of Congo have an intense confusion about the peace-keeping mission. I have heard many times uttered by the local Congolese that they do not beleive that UN is sincere to bring peace in DR Congo. They  also blame the neighbouring countries to ignite the unrest in  DRC so that they can exploit the mineral resources illegally. In some cases, it seems true. Then why UN effectively does not warn those countries. This is one reason the Congo people express their doubt against UN's honesty and willingness.

The geopolitics and international politics play an important role in DRC, as per specialists who have expertise in African war and conflicts, The African people are not united; ignorance and poverty have diminished their backbones. The so called rich and civilized countries are utilizing this weak point. Though the whole world knows that Africa has been being exploited for centuries, none raise their voice about it neither in Africa nor in somewhere of the world. The voice, we hear against the western imperialism, is so faint, now a days, according to me, it is not capable of bringing any immediate change.

The two major ethnic groups, who have a long history of impatience and hatred against each other, are lengthening the clash and refueling the conflict in many ways. Lendu who are known as agriculturalist and Hema who are pastoralist by profession, are two major ethnic groups in the area made the area most dangerous part than any province of Congo.
